: When does training start and finish?
A: Our classes begin on Monday January 5 and will end on Sunday December 13 in 2026.
Q: How does membership work?
A: We have three kinds of membership available: casual passes ($18), 6-month and 12-month memberships for USyd students ($120/$200) and community members ($200/$350).
Q: When can I join the club?
A: Membership begins from the day you join and will expire after the length of membership purchased, irrespective of university breaks and semesters.
Q: How can I get started?
A: If you'd like to jump straight in, head to calendly.com/sumt and book your first class. Turn up to Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness and pay for either a casual pass, a 6-month or 12-month membership. From there the front desk will let you know where to go. Once you arrive in the gym, make yourself known to one of our trainers and they'll take it from there.
Q: I’m a beginner, which class is best for me?
A: If you’re just starting out, please book into one of our Fundamentals classes and turn up to training 10 minutes early and introduce yourself to our coaches.
Q: It’s my first time training, what should I bring?
A: You should bring gloves, shin guards, hand wraps, a water bottle and towel. Of course you may not have all of this gear for your first lesson but please do your best to borrow some from a friend. SUMT does not have loan gear. Some leniency is given only in your first few classes.
Q: I’ve trained for a while and I think I’m ready to attend the advanced class. Do I just turn up?
A: No. Our advanced class is strictly invite-only. If you wish to attend, you must go to our All Levels classes and ask permission. Our coaches will let you know if you’re ready. Annual members only.
Q: Why is there an invite-only class?
A: Muay Thai is an intense ring sport and martial art and while some of us train for fitness, others train to compete. Our invite-only class is to support our competitive members with a fast-paced and high intensity environment that is designed to help them reach the next level.
